PMOS
Definition
P-channel Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor, a type of field-effect transistor (MOSFET) that uses p-type dopants in the channel, conducting when the gate voltage is low relative to the source.
PMOS logic, a family of digital circuits based on p-channel enhancement-mode MOSFETs, historically used before CMOS became dominant.
Examples
The circuit designer paired the NMOS with a PMOS to create a perfectly balanced CMOS inverter, proving opposites really do attract in silicon.
My first PMOS prototype shorted out faster than my patience during a group project meeting.
In the world of chips, PMOS transistors are the moody ones that only activate when voltages drop low – talk about high maintenance.
Engineers debated NMOS versus PMOS for hours, but ultimately, their marriage in CMOS made everyone happy.
