NTEE codes (National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities) are a standardized hierarchical classification system used by the IRS and the National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS) to categorize tax-exempt nonprofit organizations based on their primary purpose, activities, and mission.
Each NTEE code consists of up to three characters (letters and numbers), such as 'A20' for arts education or 'P20' for human service multipurpose centers, aiding in data analysis, funding allocation, and organizational identification.
