A sovereign state in Southeastern Europe, situated on the Adriatic Sea, known for its dramatic coastline, mountains, and rich history.
Literally 'black mountain' (from Venetian Italian 'monte nero'), a name originating from the dark coniferous forests visible on the hillsides from the sea, as a calque of the Slavic 'Crna Gora'.
