Gilgo Beach
Definition
A beach located in the hamlet of Gilgo within the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County, New York, on the barrier island of Fire Island along the southern shore of Long Island.
The notorious site where the remains of at least 10 victims linked to the Long Island Serial Killer (also known as the Gilgo Beach Killer), Rex Heuermann, were discovered along Ocean Parkway starting in December 2010; Heuermann pleaded guilty to seven of the murders in recent court proceedings.
