Germán Vargas Lleras (February 19, 1962 – May 8, 2026) was a prominent Colombian politician, lawyer, and media figure from a storied political dynasty, grandson of former President Carlos Lleras Restrepo.
He served as Vice President of Colombia from 2014 to 2017 under Juan Manuel Santos, held ministerial positions including Interior and Justice (2010–2012) and Housing (2012–2013), and was a four-term Senator and President of the Senate (2003–2004).
Leader of the Cambio Radical (Radical Change) party since 2004, he ran unsuccessfully for president in 2009 and 2018, known for advancing infrastructure and housing projects amid controversies like the Panama Papers.
