Definition
A vector-borne bacterial disease caused by Rickettsia typhi (or occasionally Rickettsia felis), primarily transmitted to humans through the feces of infected fleas, often associated with rodents such as rats and opossums.
Also known as murine typhus or endemic typhus, it manifests with symptoms including high fever, severe headache, chills, muscle pain, rash, and nausea, typically appearing 6-14 days after exposure.
