Charlton Heston
Definition
Charlton Heston (1923–2008) was an iconic American film actor, best known for portraying larger-than-life heroes in epic biblical and historical dramas such as Moses in 'The Ten Commandments' (1956) and Judah Ben-Hur in 'Ben-Hur' (1959).
He also starred in science fiction classics like 'Planet of the Apes' (1968), where his dramatic line 'Get your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!' became legendary.
Later in life, Heston served as president of the National Rifle Association (NRA) from 1998 to 2003, famously declaring 'from my cold, dead hands' in defense of gun rights.
