May Day
Definition
May Day is the first day of May, traditionally celebrated as a spring festival with maypoles, dancing, and flowers in many cultures, and as International Workers' Day (Labor Day) in numerous countries to honor the labor movement.
Mayday (often written as one word) is the international radiotelephonic distress signal used by aircraft, ships, and others in emergencies, derived from the French 'm'aider' meaning 'help me'.
