teotihuacan
Definition
The ruins of an ancient Mesoamerican city located in central Mexico, near Mexico City, that flourished between approximately 100 BCE and 650 CE. It is famous for its massive pyramids, including the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon.
Borrowed from Nahuatl Teōtīhuacān, meaning 'the place where the gods were created' or 'birthplace of the gods'.
