Definition
An immense ancient Mesoamerican city and archaeological site located approximately 40 km northeast of Mexico City, renowned as one of the largest urban centers before the Aztecs.
Famous for its monumental structures including the Pyramid of the Sun, the Pyramid of the Moon, and the Avenue of the Dead.
The name Teotihuacán originates from Nahuatl, meaning 'the place where the gods were born' or 'city of the gods', bestowed by the Aztecs long after its abandonment.
