To shut (a door, window, etc.) forcefully and noisily.
To strike or hit something with great force.
To criticize or attack someone or something harshly and publicly.
In basketball, to dunk the ball forcefully into the basket from above the rim (as a 'slam dunk').
A poetry slam: a competitive event where poets perform original work before an audience and judges.
