Robert James 'Rick' Monday Jr. (born November 20, 1945) is an American former professional baseball center fielder who played 19 seasons in Major League Baseball for the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics (1967–1971), Chicago Cubs (1972–1976, 1980), and Los Angeles Dodgers (1977–1984).
Famously known for his heroic act on April 25, 1976, during a Cubs-Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium, when he ran across the outfield and snatched an American flag from two anti-war protesters attempting to ignite it, preventing its desecration.
Currently serves as a radio color commentator for Los Angeles Dodgers broadcasts, bringing his outfield wisdom to the airwaves.
