Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez is a Cuban politician and engineer who has served as President of the Republic of Cuba since October 2019 and as First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba since April 2021.
He succeeded Raúl Castro as Cuba's leader, becoming the first non-Castro head of state and party chief since the 1959 Revolution.
