Mary McCormack (born February 8, 1969) is an American actress best known for her leading television roles as Justine Appleton in 'Murder One' (1995–1997), Deputy National Security Adviser Kate Harper in 'The West Wing' (2004–2006), and U.S. Marshal Mary Shannon in 'In Plain Sight' (2008–2012).
She has appeared in notable films such as 'Deep Impact' (1998), 'K-PAX' (2001), and '1408' (2007), and more recently starred in 'Heels' (2021–2023) and as a brain surgeon in 'The Pitt' (2026).
A veteran of stage and screen, McCormack earned a 2008 Tony Award nomination for her role in the Broadway revival of 'Boeing-Boeing' and began her career in regional theater.
