LGBTQ
Definition
An initialism used as an umbrella term for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning individuals to describe their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Often used to represent a diverse community that has historically faced significant discrimination, and has increasingly become a focal point for corporate, cultural, and political discourse.
Examples
Some corporations treat LGBTQ pride like a seasonal trend, changing their logos to rainbows in June while conveniently forgetting about their donation records in July.
Navigating the modern marketplace feels like walking on eggshells, where a single Pride-themed campaign is enough to send stock prices on a rollercoaster ride worthy of a boardroom reality show.
The irony of companies courting the LGBTQ demographic while simultaneously bankrolling politicians who actively campaign against those same identities is a level of gaslighting that deserves an industry award.
