D. John Sauer (full name Dean John Sauer, born November 13, 1974) is an American lawyer serving as the 49th Solicitor General of the United States since April 4, 2025, following nomination by President Donald Trump and Senate confirmation.
Previously the Solicitor General of Missouri from 2017 to 2023, Sauer is renowned for representing Donald Trump in key Supreme Court cases, including the 2024 presidential immunity ruling in Trump v. United States.
