Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed (born October 31, 1984) is an American physician, epidemiologist, public health expert, author, podcast host, and progressive Democratic politician from Michigan.
He served as executive director of the Detroit Health Department (2015-2017), director of Wayne County Department of Health, Human, and Veterans Services (2023-2025), and ran for Michigan governor in the 2018 Democratic primary.
Currently campaigning for the U.S. Senate seat from Michigan in the 2026 election, endorsed by Bernie Sanders, advocating for Medicare for All, renewable energy, and progressive policies.
